Customer Comments for Boring Jigs... |
(03-12-2010) I do high end finish carpentry in Central California. I purchased a used twenty year old kit from a friend some five years ago, and have bored over 150 doors with it. I am just now getting around to changing the bushings and upgrading to carbide bits. I look forward to a tuned up kit, and have no doubt this kit will be boring doors for a long time to come. As there are aspects of finish carpentry that I enjoy far more than boring doors for hardware, I am not ready to say that this kit makes boring doors fun . But it sure as hell makes it easy, and quick. And that means I get to spend more time on the aspects of finish carpentry that I do find to be fun . Comment From: Jon Hall

(05-08-2008) I am the owner of 3 apartment buildings, 4 houses and do all the maintenance myself. I have never used, or even SEEN, a better designed boring jug. And with over 130 total doors to maintain I know the difference. We purchased the 10800 kit and updated with carbide spade & spur bits. I also highly recommend and extra spur bit to pre-drill the exterior hole a half inch to prevent splintering when the main spur breaks through. Especially with exotic woods like mahogany or teak. Over the last 5 years I ve used this tool over 100 times and this is one hamma down unit! And Debbie is just a superior business person to deal with. Did I mention lighting FAST shipping? Shame on me. Kindest regards, Robert Miller Comment From: Robert Miller

(05-05-2008) Im an amateur but like to invest in tools. Bought a 10600 kit from my local tool company after seeing a similar boring jig used by a locksmith in the midwest that I d hired to update locks on our daughter s mid-50 s home. This unit works great, almost intuitive to use, and is built stout. I ve loaned it to a pal who was remodeling his son s home and he raved about it too. I recommend it without reservation. I just wish I had time and projects enough to wear it out! Comment From: Big Sky Tool Guy

(04-06-2007) This is the best jig I have ever used. The set up is easy and it is very strong, not plastic like some of the other brands. Comment From: John Knight
